Chapter 9
The Unforgettable Mark in My Husband's Heart • Chapter 11
Chapter 9
Ryan Bennett fell asleep while sitting beside my body. The more I looked at him, the more fake he seemed.
Was there something wrong with him? Why did he always have to wait until he lost something to realize its value? He had done the same with Sophia Wilson, and now he was doing it with me.
Over the past two days, Ryan Bennett had stayed in the ward the whole time. Sophia Wilson had come a few times, but he had chased her away each time.
Men could be so ruthless when they wanted to be—it was like they had never loved you at all.
Later, I found out the real reason they had broken up before: Sophia Wilson had cheated on him!
Early this morning, Ryan Bennett went out again, and of course, I drifted along with him. Today was the final deadline he had given my parents to move out.
I was really curious to see what he was going to do.
Ryan Bennett still brought a group of burly men with him, and this time, he also brought a man in a suit. I heard Ryan Bennett call him Lawyer Anderson.
When they arrived at the new apartment, sure enough, my parents hadn't moved out. They had even called some relatives over.
My dad stood at the front, holding a wooden stick in his hand. The look in his eyes as he looked at Ryan Bennett was full of resentment.
You brat! When you said you wanted to marry my daughter, you promised to buy my son an apartment! Now you're going back on your word and trying to take the apartment back?
It's not going to happen! I'm not moving out, and there's nothing you can do about it! Go ahead—try to kill me if you dare!
Ryan Bennett looked at the people in the room and said only one sentence: Fine. Wait for the court summons.
My mom jumped out: Who do you think you're scaring? The apartment is in my son's name—do you think the court will give it to you?
Sure enough, a few days later, my parents really received a court summons, accusing them of obtaining money through improper means.
In court, Ryan Bennett presented the receipt for the full payment of the apartment, proving that the bank card used to make the payment was his.
My mom was the first to object: We had an agreement! You said if you wanted to marry my daughter, you'd buy my son an apartment! Now you're turning your back on us?
Ryan Bennett's lawyer said: So the defendants are saying that this apartment was a voluntary gift from Ryan Bennett?
Yes! My dad said immediately.
Lawyer Anderson continued to ask: Then, may I ask the defendants—what evidence do you have to prove that? Do you have a gift agreement? Do you have any audio or video recordings from that time?
These questions left my parents speechless: We're just honest farmers—we don't know anything about that!
But he did say it! Our whole family heard him!
The trial lasted four days, and in the end, Ryan Bennett won the case. He got the apartment back and kicked my parents out.
Watching my parents pack their things in a fluster, I couldn't help but find it funny. I felt a sense of satisfaction—as if I had finally gotten my revenge.
Before leaving, my brother stared at Ryan Bennett fiercely: You just wait.
I never expected that my brother would make a video to slander Ryan Bennett, claiming that Ryan Bennett had abused me domestically, broken his promises, mistreated my parents, and looked down on them for being farmers.
In the video, the three of them were crying and sniffling, with a messy, small flat in the background.
There were comments under the video:
Isn't this Ryan Bennett a professor at a university? I heard his family is quite wealthy. I never thought he'd be this kind of person.
After that, many people followed suit and hurled insults: A professor? Doing something like this—how shameless.
Overnight, the internet was filled with sarcastic remarks about Ryan Bennett. My brother even called Ryan Bennett.
Saw the rumors online? I'll give you one more chance. Transfer three million yuan to my card, and I'll take the video down. Otherwise, in a few days, when this video goes viral, there'll be no way to fix it.
Ryan Bennett let out a cold laugh and suddenly called my brother by his name: Owen Carter.
As he spoke, he quietly pressed the record button.
What?
Owen Carter, say that again. What do you want me to do?
My brother's voice was full of impatience: Are you deaf? I told you to transfer three million yuan to my card! Otherwise, I'll keep making up stories about you. Those people online don't care about the truth anyway.
Ryan Bennett hung up on Owen Carter, then immediately posted screenshots of the chat history between me and my parents online, along with the recording of my brother trying to blackmail him.
