Chapter 1
Taming the Old-Fashioned Mature Man • Chapter 3
Chapter 1
I first met Ethan Zhou two weeks ago when I was looking for a place to live near campus.
The reason I moved out of the dorm was simple: I'd had a huge falling-out with that weird roommate of mine. She never cleaned up, even treated her unwashed socks like some kind of local specialty, and even tried to mask the smell with perfume.
I was the dorm leader, and this girl had a total princess complex. More than once, she'd woken me up in the middle of the night to ask me to go to the bathroom with her—and on top of that, she even wanted me to flush the toilet for her!
It was like she was treating me as her maid. How could I put up with that? I argued with her on the spot, but she kept doing the same things in the days that followed.
Since I couldn't beat them, I decided to get out of there. I grabbed my luggage and moved out overnight.
After checking out several unsatisfactory apartments, I had no choice but to turn to my dear dad for help.
Hardly two minutes had passed since I sent him a message when he called me. "Olivia, you've moved out?"
"Yeah! Didn't you say you have lots of connections in City A? It's not too much to ask you to find me a place and lend me some money, right?" I was lounging in a hotel room, munching on potato chips with my legs propped up, feeling quite comfortable.
My dad was a total doting father—he almost never said no to any of my requests.
"It's dangerous for a girl to live alone. How about this? I have a former student who works near A University. He lives alone, so you can go stay with him."
I sat up straight in a flash. "Is he a guy or a girl?"
He hesitated a little when asked this. "Well... he is a guy, but I can guarantee his character."
What kind of guy could make my dad agree to let his precious daughter live with him? Back in elementary school, my dad chewed me out just for walking home with a male classmate!
"Does he have a girlfriend?"
I had to confirm this! I didn't want to get stuck in an awkward misunderstanding.
"Oh, honey, don't you worry! Young Zhou is single. Here, this is his phone number. I've already talked to him. Go pack your things—he'll come pick you up downstairs at the hotel later. When you're at someone else's place, be more helpful. Don't be lazy; don't embarrass your dad."
"Got it, got it!" I hung up the phone in a hurry, packed my things, and went downstairs to wait.
While killing time, I was looking down at my phone, texting my best friend, when a figure appeared in my line of sight.
My gaze traveled from his waistband up to his shoulders—black skinny pants paired with a plaid shirt, and a set of keys hanging from his waist. That outfit...
Was that my dad? What on earth was this old guy up to, coming all the way to City A?
The words were out of my mouth before I could stop them. "George Lin, are you out of your mind? I said I needed a roommate, but you didn't have to come all the way to City A yourself!"
"This 'dad' opened his mouth and said, 'Olivia Lin, right?'"
Why did "Dad's" voice sound so young? Did he somehow reverse his age?
It wasn't until I saw his face that I realized.
He looked to be around twenty-seven or twenty-eight. His features were sharp and defined—straight eyebrows, bright eyes, and there was even a charming mole at the corner of his eye.
He had an absolutely handsome face.
Dude, you're totally wasting that face!
The handsome guy gave me a quick glance, then took out his phone and compared it to my face.
On the screen was an unflattering photo of me sitting cross-legged at the dining table, gobbling down chicken feet. If I had to guess, my dad must have sent it to him.
He muttered to himself, "Must be her."
My blood pressure shot up instantly, and I felt like I was about to spit out a mouthful of blood. "Must be my foot! I put on makeup today—do you really think these two look the same?"
You could say I didn't look good in person, but you could never say I didn't look good with makeup on.
The handsome guy looked innocent. "No, they look exactly the same?"
