Chapter 5
The Desperate Housewife's Revenge • Chapter 8
Chapter 5
"Property management, could you please help them carry their luggage downstairs?"
Just then, the property manager I'd called arrived with some security guards. I turned to them and gave my instructions.
My mother-in-law, my sister-in-law, and Ethan were all dumbfounded. They couldn't understand what I was up to.
First, I'd threatened to sue for divorce, and now I was kicking them out—was I really determined to cut ties with Ethan?
It was only when they realized they were about to lose their "cash cow" that the three of them started to panic.
For the first time, Ethan lowered his pride and begged me softly, "Honey, let's handle our family matters by ourselves—we don't need outsiders getting involved.
If you think I've done something wrong, I'll change, okay? We've been married for seven years—can't we just talk this out face to face?" After saying this, he even reached out and tried to hold my hand.
This was his idea of "backing down"—his way of saying, "Nora Bennett, I've given you a way out. You'd better take it."
In the past, hearing him speak to me in such a gentle tone would have made me feel grateful. But now? That love-addled part of me was gone. I was Nora Bennett, reborn.
"Are you all just standing there watching? Hurry up and get to work! You—go to the first room on the right, pick up those big sacks on the floor, and carry them downstairs to throw away.
You—go to the first room on the right too, pack up all the things inside, and take them down to the main entrance on the first floor.
And as for the three of you—what are you waiting for? Get out of here! Can't you understand simple words?" After giving instructions to the property staff, I turned to Ethan and the others and issued my final order to leave.
Ethan flew into a rage when he saw how unyielding I was. "Nora Bennett, who do you think you are? Fine—we'll leave! But let me tell you this: getting a divorce won't be that easy for you!
I told you before—whoever files for divorce first has to leave with nothing!
Since you're being so heartless, don't blame me for being cruel too! You want to go to court? I'll be right there with you!" With that, Ethan stormed out of the house, followed by my mother-in-law and sister-in-law.
Watching their embarrassed retreating figures, I let out a scoff. This was just the beginning.
Just wait—they'd soon learn what happens when you anger a "naive fool" like me!
