Chapter 1

A Letter to the Rich Young Master   â€˘   Chapter 3

Chapter 1

When Shawn Bennett brought Mia Carter home, I was in the garden, sipping juice and scrolling through online videos mocking him.

"Dear Young Master Gong, to express my admiration for you, only a handwritten letter can convey my love... Most people might like you because of your extremely excellent conditions—after all, who wouldn't want to be with a wealthy heir? But I think they're all too superficial; only I truly understand you... Even if you didn't have your current status and position, you'd still shine brightly on your own. Young Master Gong, may your future be splendid, and let's meet at the peak."

This absurd and ridiculous letter all started because my brother posted a video of himself playing with a cat at home, with the location tagged as Taihe Garden. Only the extremely wealthy and prominent families could afford a villa here, so the video went viral overnight. Within two days, a girl posted this handwritten letter online and specifically mentioned my brother.

In this handwritten letter of barely a thousand words, there were at least a dozen typos and numerous ink blots. I really couldn't figure out what state of mind this girl was in when she wrote it—and even had the nerve to post it online.

Who would have thought I'd stumble upon such a ridiculous incident right after returning from a business trip? I was even planning to tease Shao Qin (Shawn Bennett) later, calling him "Dear Young Master Gong~"

Before I could let out a laugh, Shawn Bennett walked over, holding the arm of a girl who clung to him like a timid bird. He solemnly introduced her, "Sis, this is Mia Carter, my girlfriend."

Mia Carter? Wasn't she the girl who wrote that letter to him online? I almost spat out the juice in my mouth!

The girl looked quite young. A light purple dress made her skin as fair as snow, and her eyes were as clear as a pool of water. She had an innocent, harmless look with a hint of vulnerability—she was indeed good-looking.

"How old are you? Where do you live? What's your educational background?"

In my opinion, these were three perfectly normal and ordinary questions. But Mia Carter immediately hid further behind Shawn Bennett.

Shawn chimed in, "Sis, it's Mia's first time coming to our house. Don't scare her."

Are you kidding me? I just asked her a few questions, and that's scaring her?

Before Mia could say anything, Shawn continued, "Mia just turned 20. She's from a small county town. She started working right after graduating from high school, but she's really a strong and independent girl."

When it came to dating, our family had always let us make our own choices. There were no arranged business marriages or childhood betrothals. As long as the other person had good character and a clean family background, it was totally acceptable. After all, our parents fell in love freely back in the day, and with the Gong family's influence, we didn't need to rely on marriages to stabilize our status.

I waved for Mia to come over. She glanced at Shao Qin first, and only after getting an encouraging smile from him did she shyly walk toward me. Looking at her, I couldn't help but wonder—was I really that intimidating?

Mia softly called me "Sis." To ease her nervousness, I took the initiative to hold her hand and spoke gently, "I assume Shao Qin has told you about the Gong family's situation? Our parents passed away a long time ago."

"Although there are no elderly elders in the family to help out, as long as I'm here, if you marry into our family in the future, I'll make sure you won't be wronged."

Mia nodded obediently. I continued, "Why didn't you go to college after high school? Did you not get accepted?"

This question made Mia hesitate, and she looked to Shao Qin for help.

"Sis," Shao Qin said, a hint of dissatisfaction in his tone, "Why are you asking such sensitive questions?"

I looked up at him calmly, "If you really want to be with Mia, let me finish my questions."

This sentence successfully shut Shao Qin up.
