Chapter 2

I had met Alex Liu in college and fallen in love with him.

His family background was not good, and he had worked extremely hard to get into this university. At school, he also came across as a real nice guy.

His hardworking nature, combined with his good looks, made me notice him quickly.

Back then, there were many people chasing him, and quite a few pursuing me too. We got together under the envious eyes of many young men and women.

At the beginning, he treated me really well. But after half a year, he started asking about my family background intentionally or unintentionally.

Although my family was wealthy, I had never liked to show off my family's fortune, so I had always kept a low profile.

I had gotten into this top domestic university through my own hard work; otherwise, I would have been sent abroad to study.

Since I also had an older brother, my parents didn't have high expectations for me. They only wanted me to live according to my own will, so I was lucky enough to stay in China.

I had joked half-seriously to Alex, "My family runs a supermarket."

Upon hearing that, he let out a somewhat disappointed "Oh" and then sighed softly, "Sigh, I can't rely on you to support me then. Looks like I'll have to work hard and earn money to support you in the future. You mustn't look down on me, okay?"

I smiled to myself and teased him, "Silly you."

I didn't tell him that my family owned a chain of supermarkets with thousands of stores across dozens of countries worldwide.

I had planned to reveal my identity as a wealthy heiress one day, then wave my hand generously and say, "Man, from now on, I'll take care of you."

I had intended to save this surprise for after graduation.

At that time, I would arrange for both of us to do an internship at my family's company. Once we had established ourselves there, I could help him get a good position.

I had daydreamed about Alex Liu making a successful career for himself someday, so that my parents would look at him in a new light and naturally agree to our relationship.

For various reasons, this plan had been put on hold. And before I could even start implementing it, this incident happened.

I had lost my boyfriend because of a blind date, while he had chosen to throw himself into someone else's arms.

Everything felt like a dramatic scene from a movie. What was even more dramatic was that I seemed to have suddenly gained a husband out of nowhere?
