Chapter 5

A Letter to the Rich Young Master   â€˘   Chapter 7

Chapter 5

It was a case of "trying to be clever but ending up shooting oneself in the foot." Now Mia was panicking. Although she had taken Luna's place and gone to a good university, she couldn't understand a word in class and had no professional skills at all. There was no guarantee she would find a good job after graduation. It would be better to just hook up with a wealthy heir and live a worry-free life for the rest of her days.

So she forced Luna to switch identities back with her. Besides, she had written that letter in the first place, so it was only right that the young master of the Gong family should like her. Luna was already numb and let Mia do whatever she wanted.

In this way, their identities were "restored" by chance. What a scheme she had come up with!

That night, I brought Luna back to the Gong family. Since she had trusted me enough to tell me the truth, I naturally had to protect her and keep her from being exploited by those heartless parents and her venomous sister any longer.

I sent the recording of my conversation with Luna to Shao Qin. I had thought that once Mia's true colors were exposed, Shao Qin would no longer want to associate with someone like her. But when I got home, I found Shao Qin waiting for me in the living room, looking ready for a confrontation—and Mia was standing behind him, crying her eyes out.

Before I could say anything, Shao Qin walked up to me angrily, staring straight at Luna behind me. He shouted, "How dare you twist the truth like that! Minmin (Mia) has always been so kind to you, and yet you frame her—don't you have a conscience?"

Tears filled Luna's eyes as she kept shaking her head and denying, "No, no, I... I didn't do that."

Seeing that Shao Qin was about to reach out and grab Luna, I pushed him away, rolled up Luna's sleeve, and exposed her scars. "Could it be that she did these to herself?"

Shao Qin sneered, "What if she did? She's always liked to steal everything from Minmin. Now that she sees Minmin is about to marry into a wealthy family, she's naturally jealous and will do anything to make things difficult for Minmin."

Looking at Shao Qin, who was completely bewitched by Mia, I said calmly, "I will find out the truth myself."

I walked up to Mia and asked politely, "I heard you did a lot of odd jobs to help support your family. What exactly did you do?"

Mia sobbed, "First, I worked as a dishwasher, then as a cleaner, and now I'm a cashier in a supermarket." She looked at me with a hint of defiance in her eyes—as if to say, "It doesn't matter; I have answers for whatever you ask."

"Good," I continued, "Then why don't you go apply for a cleaner position at the mall? Let me see how well you do."

"Huh?" Mia's tears stopped instantly. She looked at Shao Qin in a panic, "Shawn..."

"Sis, what on earth are you trying to do?" Shao Qin hugged Mia in his arms, "Why do you only believe Luna's one-sided story and target Minmin like this?"

I turned around and sat down on the sofa, "Why are you so nervous? I'm just trying to get to the bottom of this. If Mia could work as a cleaner before, why can't she do it now?"

"Her status is different now—how can she do that kind of work anymore?" Shao Qin argued.

"Different? What's different about it?" I glanced at Shao Qin and continued, "Do you think that once she marries you and becomes a member of the Gong family, she can just sit back and enjoy the benefits without working? Shawn Bennett, don't forget—all the Gong family's assets are in my name. If you want to support yourself and your future family, after you graduate from college next year, you'll have to find a job and work too. You won't get a single cent from the Gong family."

After hearing what I said, Mia's face turned pale. "Miss Gong, you're Shawn's sister—how can you really leave him high and dry like this?"

I smiled, "Leave him high and dry? I'm supporting him until he graduates from college, aren't I?"

"The Gong Group is such a big company—I don't believe Shawn's father didn't leave him any assets at all," Mia insisted.

Shao Qin's face grew increasingly éšľçś‹. He tried to pull Mia away, but Mia was still unwilling to give up. "Is this how a sister acts? Could it be that you embezzled Shawn's share of the inheritance?"

"That's enough!" Shao Qin shouted, 甩开 Mia's hand and storming off. Mia immediately chased after him.
