Chapter 12

Living Together Again with My Ex-Husband   â€˘   Chapter 14

Chapter 12

The security guards dragged Ethan Green away. His face was covered in blood, but when he looked at me, his eyes seemed to be begging for help.

My mind was in chaos. When Luke Brown walked over, I took two steps back instinctively.

I stared at him, and only then did I notice he wasn’t wearing his glasses. His amber eyes looked even deeper under the night lights. His thin lips curved into a beautiful arc, but his voice was flat.

“No matter what Ethan Green told you, don’t believe it. If you see him again in the future, bring Sophia Miller with you.”

He turned to leave after speaking, but the name “Sophia Miller” jolted my nerves.

“Luke Brown, do you know Sophia Miller?”

My voice was trembling violently. Luke Brown frowned, looking at me as if he didn’t recognize me.

“Sophia Miller is your best friend. I’m your ex-husband. She came to our wedding.”

Yes, Sophia Miller did know Luke Brown, but she’d said she didn’t know him very well.

Ethan Green had said that Sophia Miller was on Luke Brown’s side—that she was the eyes Luke Brown had planted by my side to watch me.

I pulled my windbreaker tightly around myself, hung my head, and hurried past Luke Brown toward home.

I could feel Luke Brown right behind me, just three steps away. The faint scent of pine wafted over with the night breeze, making it hard to resist getting lost in it.

Since I’d woken up, Luke Brown had told me he was my ex-husband. He’d cooked for me, taken care of my daily needs, rarely spoke, and never entered my room without permission.

He’d respected my choice to take back the company and gone out of his way to help me. Even though in the end the company was in his hands, at least I still had all the power to decide the company’s direction.

I stopped at the door of my villa. Luke Brown was already about to push open his own door. I called out to him.

“Luke Brown, do you like me?”
