The School Bully   β€’   Chapter 6

Chapter 4

As I spoke, I took out an ink bottle from my schoolbag and slowly unscrewed the cap.

The two of them scrambled to their feet in a panic. Seeing me open the ink bottle as if I hadn't had enough, they asked anxiously, "What do you want, Emma Chen?"

"Hmm?" I looked up at them with interest. "Now you think I'm Emma Chen, not the 'Luna Chen' you were talking about earlier?"

"Yes, yes! You're not Luna Chen! Luna Chen would never do this. We believe you're Emma Chen!" Olivia Wood's hair was messy, and she looked disheveled. She begged me with a tone that was almost tearful.

But this was just the beginning β€” it was nothing compared to even a tenth of the bullying my sister had endured at their hands.

"What about my notebook?" I asked.

Sophia Zhang immediately took a new notebook out of her schoolbag and put it on my desk. "Here's a new notebook to replace yours."

I stopped what I was doing and looked at the new notebook.

The cover of the notebook was cartoon-style and very cute. But it was also quite ironic β€” a person who bullied and humiliated others actually used such a cute notebook.

"If you don't want me to trouble you again, keep a low profile and behave yourselves," I said.

When I saw the beam of a flashlight coming from the dark corridor outside, I screwed the ink bottle cap back on.

The security guard was coming to check if the classroom doors were closed. Staying any longer would risk being discovered β€” and I didn't want to get myself into trouble.

I had thought that after that, things would calm down and the two of them would behave themselves.

But how could that be possible?

"Hey, are you Emma Chen?" A delinquent youth wearing a flowery shirt and with dyed yellow hair stopped me.

I recognized him β€” he was the man called "Mike" in the video.

It was the weekend. Earlier, Olivia Wood had sent me a message asking me to meet her in the park, saying she wanted to apologize to me properly.

So this was her idea of a "proper apology"?

"Yeah, that's me. I don't change my name or hide my identity β€” I'm Emma Chen," I replied.

Most students would be scared when they saw a delinquent youth like him, especially since several other people had suddenly appeared behind him.

Among them were Olivia Wood and Sophia Zhang β€” people I knew β€” and Chloe He, who was hiding behind them.

I still couldn't understand why she would listen to these people's orders even though they bullied her. Even after I stepped in to help her, she didn't choose to break away from their bullying; instead, she helped them do evil.

I shouldn't have meddled in her business in the first place.

"Mike, it's her! She's the one who hit me and Sophia Zhang!" Olivia Wood ran to Mike's side to tattle, her eyes constantly glancing in my direction.

"Mike, you mustn't let her get away with this!" Sophia Zhang also ran over to join in.

The yellow-haired youth looked me up and down, pointing at me rudely. He then turned to the people behind him and said, "Look β€” doesn't she look exactly like that dead girl Luna Chen?"

"Whoa, could she be back for revenge?" one of them said.

He turned back to stare at me, his eyes fierce yet playful. "Did you have such a good time last time that you came back to find us brothers again?"

He reached out and patted my face repeatedly. The other men behind him also joined in the jeering and whistling.

Sophia Zhang and Olivia Wood held up their phones to record the scene.

This was a remote part of the park, hidden by trees β€” so no one would see what was happening here.

They had really picked a good spot!

"One, two, three..." I stared at him expressionlessly, counting the number of times he patted my face.

"B*tch, what are you counting for?" He glared at me, leaning in close. "I'm hitting you β€” do you dare to fight back?"

"You asked for this," I said.

I grabbed the hand he was using to pat my face and twisted it hard β€” until I heard the sound of his bones cracking β€” before letting go.

He stumbled back several steps in pain, clutching his hand, which was now too sore to move.

"Ah! B*tch, what do you think you're doing?" he screamed.

"What are you looking at? Hurry up and get her!" he shouted to the others behind him.

When the others saw their leader get hurt, they swarmed forward. Even the two girls who had been recording the video followed, trying to kick me while they had the chance.

There were so many of them. Even though I had learned taekwondo and Sanda, I was just a female high school student β€” I couldn't possibly beat so many people on my own.

That's why I had asked the chubby boy to come.

The chubby boy wasn't good at studying; instead, he spent his days competing with others to see "who had more people backing them up." By "backing," he meant who had a bigger group of friends to support them.

Last night, I had told him, "I'm going to have a fight tomorrow. Do you want to come watch? And let me see how strong your 'backing' is."

The chubby boy was driven by his childish desire to compete β€” which played right into my hands.

When I saw the crowd of people the chubby boy had brought with him, I smiled in satisfaction.

"Fatty, you're awesome! I didn't expect you to be able to get so many people to come," I praised him.

Flattered by my compliment, the chubby boy's vanity was fully satisfied.

"You b*tch, you even brought a bunch of people!" Mike cursed.

"Guys, get them!" he shouted.

The two groups started fighting. Only Chloe He hid behind the crowd, trembling with fear.

She was so cowardly, yet she still dared to hang out with these delinquent youths!

I fought with punches and kicks, feeling a sense of release. Sister, I'm avenging you.

I had endured this for a year β€” studied taekwondo and Sanda diligently, and chosen to transfer to this school instead of the other four-star high schools β€” all for this moment of revenge.

Now, everyone who had appeared in that video was here. I was going to hit them back β€” one punch for every one my sister had taken.

I slapped the yellow-haired boy back the exact number of times he had slapped me earlier, and I also took out my phone to record the two girls begging for mercy as they were beaten.

They were the ones who had caused my sister to fall to her death.

If they hadn't pushed her, how would my sister have died?

But the school had retrieved the surveillance footage and edited it to make it look like my sister had fallen on her own.

Clearly, before that part of the footage, those two had been shoving my sister β€” pushing her until she fell off the balcony railing. But from the angle of the edited footage, a square pillar blocked the view of the two girls, creating the illusion that my sister had fallen by herself.

And those two murderers β€” because their families were powerful and influential β€” had even managed to transfer from a three-star high school to a four-star one. The school had only offered a symbolic amount of compensation.

Our family was a single-parent one β€” we couldn't get justice through official channels. So I had to take justice into my own hands.

"Ah! Stop filming!" Olivia Wood desperately tried to cover her face.

"Don't film me! It was Olivia Wood! She's the one who asked you to do this! I didn't know anything about it!" Sophia Zhang hid behind Olivia.

"Sophia Zhang, what are you talking about? You're the one who told me to do it!" Olivia Wood frantically pushed Sophia forward. The two of them looked like clowns being toyed with by me.

"This is exactly how you treated my sister back then. Now I'm just doing to you what you did to her. What are you afraid of?" I said.

It was only then that the two girls, who had been pushing each other, realized that Luna Chen was my twin sister.

A look of remorse appeared on their faces β€” probably because they were realizing how stupid they had been for not figuring that out earlier.

My sister was the same way β€” she had never told anyone else that she had a twin sister.

Now that they knew my identity, they finally understood β€” I had come for revenge.

"Emma Chen, it was him! It was that yellow-haired guy!" Olivia Wood pointed at the yellow-haired boy, who had been beaten black and blue. "He bullied your sister the most!"

But I was going to deal with them one by one. "But you two know best how my sister died, don't you?"

"She... she fell off the building on her own!" Sophia Zhang was the first to speak up.

"Liar! You two invited her to the classroom. It was the weekend β€” if it weren't for you, why would my sister have gone to the classroom? And why would you have forced her back to the balcony until she fell off?" I retorted.

"No, no! We didn't mean to push her off!" Olivia Wood looked at me, shaking her head frantically. Her messy hair became even more disheveled as she moved.

"It's just that... she was acting weird that day. She said she didn't know us......"

Before she could finish her sentence, the sound of police sirens rang out.
