Abundance Year After Year, Peace All Through the Years ⢠Chapter 3
Chapter 1
"Congratulations, Director Harrison!"
"Has Director Harrison remarried? Congratulations indeed!"
"Well, itās been five years already... But she looks a bit like..."
"Tsk! If you donāt know how to speak, donāt say anything!"
I maintained a distant yet polite smile, linking arms with Dylan Harrison. In our third year of marriage, heād brought me to the companyās year-end party. After a moment of awkwardness, his subordinates made trivial jokes. Some women shot me disdainful, sarcastic glances, but I ignored them.
My eyes and heart were fixed solely on him. Did this mean heād finally forgotten Luna Parker?
"Stop teasingāthis is my wife, Sophia Bennett," he said. His deep, resonant voice reverberated through my chest and soul. At twenty-six, heād graduated from Cambridge Business School, returned home to found a software company, and only grown more charismatic over timeānow exuding even greater maturity and poise.
"Hello, everyone," I said demurely, sitting beside him, savoring his thoughtfulness: he fetched dishes for me, peeled shrimp, and ladled soup. Gazing at the cilantro and tender green scallions floating in the soup, along with the black tiger shrimp I was allergic to, I blinked hard.
"I need to go to the restroom," I whispered to him.
Dylan nodded obligingly. "Shall I go with you?"
I shook my head and stood up.
The restroom stalls were thin-walled, and I heard two women chatting outside.
"Hey, have you met Director Harrisonās ex-wife?"
"Yeah, what was her name... Zhuang? Anyway, she looks identical to Sophia! If no one said his ex-wife passed away, Iād swear itās the same person."
"Shh, donāt talk nonsense! Did you see Director Harrisonās face earlier when someone mentioned āfive yearsā and āthree yearsā? He looked ready to devour someone."
"Fine, fineāwhoād be stupid enough to keep talking about it?"
Leaning against the stall door, my mind flooded with memories of the first time Iād met Dylan Harrison.
