Chapter 7
Living Together Again with My Ex-Husband • Chapter 9
Chapter 7
I wanted to throw him over my shoulder, but realized I didn’t have the strength.
To prevent him from suddenly acting like a beast, I had no choice but to wait and see what he would do.
“Lucy, we agreed—we’d stay together forever as two happy commitment-phobes. Why do you have to force me to marry you with this kind of thing?”
Ethan Green suddenly put on a loving expression. If there hadn’t been a faint trace of lipstick on his mouth, he might have actually seemed convincing.
Even though it was possible that I had done the things he was talking about, I didn’t think my words just now had implied anything of the sort.
“Do you think that if I take you now, you’ll finally feel at ease? Finally believe that I love you?”
He acted like he’d been wronged so deeply.
But those words… Ugh, I couldn’t stand it.
I slammed the heel of my high-heel down on his foot. Then, as he howled in pain, I delivered a kick to his crotch.
Watching him curl up on the floor, I felt much better.
“Bring the documents to my office this afternoon. If Vice President Ye can’t handle this job anymore, he can resign.”
As expected, Ethan Green wasn’t going to be that obedient. Before the afternoon even arrived, he showed up at my office with several senior executives, blocking the door.
Their meaning was clear: Ethan Green was the one supporting the company both inside and out right now. If I dared to sign the project contract alone, I’d be betraying everyone and letting them down.
They seemed to have forgotten who the company actually belonged to.
When I announced that I was taking back control and demanded an audit of the accounts, the conflict reached its peak.
Several of them chimed in, saying they wanted to resign—obviously planning to go on strike and watch me make a fool of myself.
I picked up a pen and tapped it on the desk. “Bring me your resignation letters and I’ll sign them. But before you leave, we have to finish the audit. Anyone who has something to hide—your next stop after leaving here will be the police station.”
