Chapter 6

How Did I End Up Sleeping with My Arch-Nemesis?   â€˘   Chapter 8

Chapter 6

Near the end of work, Vivian slipped out early.

I teased her about being stuck in a “honeymoon bubble”—unaware of our “hardships.”

“Don’t act like that. Adrian Foster—such a catch—is right there for you, and you won’t even take a bite?”

I thought about it. “I admit he’s my type, but he’s my arch-nemesis.”

“Arch-nemesis my foot! You two are just a bickering couple. And every time, it’s you hitting him, and him taking it.”

“He only teases you with words—you don’t lose anything.”

“Why not give it a try? A guy that hot—you’re just gonna let him go to someone else?”

She had a point. No matter how I treated him, he only ever teased me with words.

Actually… He was pretty good, except for his sharp tongue.

I was almost convinced by Vivian.

But as I opened the car door and got in, a pair of hands grabbed my shoulder and yanked me out.

The force was so strong, I thought my arm would pop out of its socket.

“Anna Shaw—was it you? Did you set me up?!”

Eric Lawson’s voice echoed through the underground parking lot—like the call of a demon from hell, terrifying.

Eric roared and threw me to the ground. My wrist throbbed with pain.

“What do you want?”

I scrambled back, panicking.

The parking lot was almost empty—most of the cars belonged to the company next door, where everyone worked overtime like crazy.

It was still too early for people to come pick up their cars.

At that moment, I felt totally helpless—like no one could hear me scream for help.

“Eric Lawson, let’s talk… Don’t make this worse than it is…”

My voice trembled with fear. I tried to sneak my phone out to call for help, but Eric lunged over, snatched it from me, and threw it against the white wall. It shattered into pieces.

“What worse can it get? I’m blacklisted from the entire industry—all because of you! All because of you!”

He’d finally figured it out. Why else would Anna “happen” to run into him when he got arrested?

After he got fired, every job application he sent went unanswered. Finally, he begged an old contact to tell him the truth—someone had pulled strings to make sure no one in the industry would hire him.

And that someone was Adrian Foster—the man who’d looked at him with such disdain on the street.

How could he not hate them?

Now, he just wanted revenge. He wanted Anna to suffer. And he wanted Adrian to suffer too!

Eric grabbed my ankle and pulled me roughly under him. I was so scared, I could barely breathe.

“No… No… Help! Someone help!”

My struggles were useless against him—like a moth fighting a flame.

Eric grabbed the neckline of my sweater and tore it open, revealing the pink camisole underneath. His eyes darkened with lust.

He’d dropped all his pretense now, spouting filthy words.

“You little slut—acting all pure these past few months. I couldn’t even touch you…”

Looking at him like this, fear took over my whole body. Tears streamed down my face, soaking my hair.

“Get away… Get away from me… Help! Help!”

Eric slapped me hard across the face. My cheek burned instantly.

“Scream all you want—no one’s coming to save you.”

No matter how hard I fought, I couldn’t break free. I could only feel his disgusting breath getting closer. When his slimy lips touched my neck, I felt so sick I wanted to throw up.

“Slap…”

Another slap—clear and loud.

“I’m giving you a chance to be grateful. Me wanting you is a compliment.”

Eric leaned down again. I closed my eyes in despair, screaming as loud as I could.

But the disgusting touch I feared never came. Instead, the weight pressing down on me was lifted.

“Bang…”

A loud crash. Eric was kicked several meters away, slamming into the car opposite. He curled up in pain, gasping for air.

“Anna, it’s okay. It’s okay now.”

“Adrian Foster…” When I saw him, my heart finally settled—but the tears flowed even harder.

Adrian took off his suit jacket and wrapped it around me. He picked me up in his arms and hurried away.

Eric looked up at the two bodyguards approaching him. He trembled all over, dropping to his knees and kowtowing, begging for mercy.

The bodyguards exchanged a look—their eyes cold and serious…
