Chapter 6 Infidelity
After My Husband Divorced Me, He Married My Best Friend • Chapter 7
Chapter 6 Infidelity
No matter how hard I tried to avoid it, what was bound to happen eventually came.
“I’m at your door—where are you?” Olivia called, saying she’d brought the latest skincare products and had been waiting for me for a while.
I was in the middle of a skincare treatment at the beauty salon and couldn’t leave, so I told her to ring the doorbell—my husband was home and could let her in.
But as luck would have it, halfway through the treatment, the power went out. The staff told me they couldn’t continue, so I had to wash my face and head home, disappointed.
When I opened the front door, I was shocked to see two pairs of shoes by the bedroom door. Then I heard soft, intimate whispers coming from inside the room. I thought I must be hearing things or seeing things wrong. Instinctively, I rushed into the bedroom to check—and what I saw was a scene I’d never forget for the rest of my life.
My best friend Olivia and my husband Michael were naked on the bed, tangled up in each other.
It was like a bolt from the blue. I was stunned, frozen in place.
“You shameless woman! What are you doing?!” After two seconds of silence, I finally snapped back to my senses. Rage burned in my chest. I mustered all my strength, ready to slap that woman hard to vent my anger—but then something even more shocking happened: my husband Michael raised his hand and slapped me instead.
The sound of the slap echoed. A bright red handprint appeared on my cheek, but what hurt more than the physical pain was the words he said next—they shattered my heart on the spot.
“You shrew! Don’t you dare touch her!” My husband stood in front of Olivia, shielding her.
Oh my god—he was protecting her.
Overwhelmed with confusion and grief, I burst into tears and ran out of the house. I knew I’d lost. This was without a doubt the biggest crisis I’d ever faced in my life.
