Chapter 9 Karma

After My Husband Divorced Me, He Married My Best Friend   â€˘   Chapter 10

Chapter 9 Karma

Overwhelmed by despair, I quickly finalized the divorce with my husband. Since our child was awarded to me, I insisted on keeping the house as compensation; my husband took the car and our savings.

Maybe he felt guilty toward me, or maybe he just didn’t want our child to suffer, or perhaps he was in a hurry to leave me—Michael agreed to my terms without hesitation and signed the divorce papers.

And just like that, our 10-odd years of marriage came to an end.

But the story didn’t end there.

As the saying goes, “Good and evil will always be rewarded; heaven’s cycle of justice is fair.” Maybe heaven had finally opened its eyes—those who climb to the top through dirty means will eventually pay for their actions.

Two years later, I heard the news that my ex-husband Michael had gotten divorced again.

According to mutual friends, Michael and Olivia had gotten into a huge fight over something. Michael had asked for a divorce and wanted to kick Olivia out of the house with nothing. Olivia had refused. Instead, she’d secretly used Michael’s ID card and credit cards to pay off her gambling debts. She’d also taken out online loans to cash out money, trying to secretly transfer his assets.

In the end, the online loan interest had snowballed, and even selling Michael’s car hadn’t been enough to cover the debt. Michael was left in a total mess—his personal credit was ruined, and his business was on the brink of bankruptcy due to the troubles.

Hearing this, I finally felt a sense of relief. I looked at my phone, where I’d saved the audio recording of my confrontation with Olivia two years earlier. A faint smile tugged at the corner of my mouth.

No one can get away with pushing me around.
