Chapter 11
The Night Before the Wedding, My Fiancé Ran Off with His First Love • Chapter 13
Chapter 11
The next day, I really wanted to back out.
“You’re nervous?” Ethan Brown asked, smiling.
Of course I was nervous! Who wouldn’t be?
I stood at the door, trembling.
What rich family would agree to their only grandson marrying a woman with an unknown background?
“Ha, me? Nervous? No way,” I said, forcing a smile that didn’t reach my eyes.
Ethan Brown patted my head. “Don’t worry. Grandpa’s not that scary.”
Yeah, right—like I’d believe that!
Just as I was trying to calm myself down, I felt a warm touch.
Ethan took my hand—his grip strong. “Let’s go, Yuan’er.”
The act was starting.
When we walked in, Grandpa was already sitting on the sofa, waiting.
I swallowed hard, stepped forward, and placed the gift Ethan had prepared on the table.
“First time meeting you. I’m Iris White—Yichuan’s... wife,” I said, my voice stiff.
Grandpa finally turned to look at me, his expression serious.
I forced a standard smile in return.
“How old are you?” Grandpa asked.
“Almost 26,” I replied, nervous.
Grandpa frowned. “I meant—how old is the baby?”
Wait, what? Baby? What baby?!
I stared at Ethan Brown in shock.
What the hell had this man done?!
But Ethan just smiled at me, put his arm around my shoulders, and gently rested his hand on my stomach.
“Grandpa, we can’t say that yet,” he said.
What? “Can’t say”?
I opened my mouth to explain, but no words came out.
Grandpa sighed.
“Since there’s a baby, you two should get along well,” he said.
I nodded, forcing another smile.
Grandpa paused for a few seconds, then said, “Ethan Brown, don’t you dare pull any tricks on me.”
I couldn’t remember how I’d gotten through dinner at the Wen house, or how Grandpa had talked to me about planning the wedding, or how Ethan Brown— that villain—had worn that smug smile the whole time!
After we left the Wen house, I hit Ethan Brown hard on the arm.
“You better explain this!”
The villain looked innocent.
“I didn’t do it on purpose. Grandpa misunderstood, and I had to go along with it,” he said.
“But you can’t lie to an old man like that! What if he gets his hopes up and finds out it’s all a lie?” I said, angry.
“Would that happen, Iris White?” The villain suddenly dropped his smile, looking at me seriously.
I stared at Ethan Brown, confused—what was he thinking?
“Alright, you promised to move in today. Why haven’t you?” He leaned down, his eyes locking onto mine.
“I never agreed,” I said, turning my head away.
“But Grandpa’s coming to our place in a few days,” Ethan said, the corner of his mouth lifting.
“You—!” I punched him hard in the chest.
“Someone will come to help you move your things tomorrow,” he said.
Ugh! I was no match for this man.
