Chapter 7

"I shouldn’t have said that. Rest for a while." I walked out, ignoring her.

"How is she? Is Luna awake?" Ethan rushed over, his eyes filled with urgency—no faking that.

"She’s awake."

"I wanted to talk about tonight—" I started, but the bathroom door swung open. Luna, wrapped in a towel, stumbled out and knelt at my feet, sobbing.

"Sister Xiaoxue, it’s all my fault! Don’t blame Ethan—I shouldn’t have ruined your birthday. You have every right to be angry with me, but please don’t blame Ethan. I’ll leave right now!"

She knelt there, tears streaming down her face—such a classic "green tea" move. I’d underestimated her.

"Luna, what are you doing? Get up!" Ethan helped her to her feet, frowning as he looked between us. Luna said nothing, just buried her face in his chest and cried.

"Ethan, it’s not Sister Xiaoxue’s fault—it’s mine. Let me leave..." Luna swayed unsteadily, looking even more pitiful.

"Leave? No—you’re staying here to rest. And no one’s going to say otherwise." Ethan glared at me, then helped Luna toward the master bedroom. Their hands were clasped tightly the entire time—never once letting go.

The sight made my eyes sting.

Through the haze, I heard Ethan say, "Sophia Carter, you’re so selfish."

When Ethan was poor and about to drop out of college, I’d secretly paid for all his tuition. Knowing he had a fragile ego, I’d brought gifts for his roommates too whenever I gave him something—so he wouldn’t feel singled out. Every time he thanked me, he’d say, "Sophia Carter, you’re so generous."

But that was the past. People change, and new loves replace old ones.

But Ethan Wilson—who do you think you are?
