My Husband Let the Scheming Other Woman Move Into Our Home   â€˘   Chapter 19

Chapter 19

I took my medicine more and more often, and even the painkillers couldn’t stop the agony. But I’d grown used to it—able to talk calmly even when the pain was unbearable.

No one knew I was sick. Every day, I lived carefree, traveling and seeing the world. In my final month, my condition worsened. I chose to go abroad—to a place where no one knew me, to end my life quietly.

In the end, I was following in my father’s footsteps. When his illness became terminal, he’d gone abroad too, with my mother by his side for his final days. After he died, my mother had stayed there, in the villa where he’d spent his last moments, spending the rest of her life remembering him.

What about me? After I died, would anyone remember me for the rest of their life?

Abroad, I kept in touch with Noah. He told me about the company, complained about Ethan, and ranted about how busy he was. After I left, Ethan had started working like a madman, staying late until midnight every day. His temper had grown short—during meetings, anyone who gave a bad report was sure to be yelled at.

Luna still went to the company to see Ethan. No one knew we’d divorced, so everyone whispered about the general manager having an affair.

Strangely, after I left, Ethan’s attitude toward Luna had cooled dramatically. He often worked late at the company instead of going home. When Luna went to see him, the security guards turned her away.

I’d heard Luna had tried to use Ethan’s connections to get a easy job at the company—only for Ethan to reject her outright, saying she wasn’t qualified. Luna had been so sure she’d get the job that her shocked expression had been priceless.

Noah described it so vividly that I couldn’t help but laugh. It seemed Luna still hadn’t gotten what she wanted after I left.

"So, Sophia Carter, can I come see you?" Noah changed the subject, his voice soft with loneliness.

I smiled bitterly, picking up a mirror. The person staring back was gaunt and emaciated, her eyes empty, her face tired.

Noah Harris—I didn’t want anyone to see me like this.

Let the best version of me stay in your memories.

"In a month, the roses in England will be in bloom. Come see them with me then."

"Okay. I’ll wait for you."

I’m sorry, Noah Harris.

I lied to you. In a month, I’ll be gone. When I’m gone, will you see the roses for me?

The day before the roses bloomed, I passed away peacefully.

Unfortunately, I never got to see them in full bloom...

After I died, Noah came. He said nothing, just arranged a simple funeral for me. Ethan came too.

Before Noah left for England, Ethan had been searching for me everywhere. He’d found Noah, begging to know where I was. Noah had told him I was dead.

Ethan hadn’t believed it—until he followed Noah to England and saw my urn.
