Chapter 9

Living Together Again with My Ex-Husband   â€˘   Chapter 11

Chapter 9

“So you’re taking advantage of my misfortune?”

I stared at Luke Brown in disbelief. Even though he’d lent me a hundred yuan that morning, that didn’t mean he could manipulate me or scheme against me like Ethan Green.

I felt a little hurt, so I snatched his coffee and drank it all in one go.

Luke Brown pressed his thin lips together. His voice was still deep and sexy, but it carried no emotion.

“It’s a normal business investment. You’re overthinking it, Ms. Lu.”

He beckoned, and the secretary standing behind him stepped forward and launched into a long explanation.

The company was now just an empty shell. If I wanted to save it, I had to accept an influx of capital from his side—it was the most direct and effective way to minimize losses. Of course, no one would give me that much money for nothing, unless Luke Brown was my husband, not my ex-husband.

So if I signed the papers, from now on I would be the Vice President, and Luke Brown would be the President.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to me.

“Did you set Ethan Green and the others up to get caught so quickly?”

Luke Brown replied matter-of-factly, “For your grandfather’s sake, I gave Ethan Green a project. But he dared to play tricks right under my nose. The fact that I’ve put up with him until now is already the limit.”

I wanted to cry but had no tears. I thought to myself, Couldn’t you have put up with him a little longer? Even just one more week—at least let me get a couple of projects back first.

Seeing me hesitate, Luke Brown beckoned again. I stared at his long fingers, and, unable to help myself, swallowed hard.

The secretary handed me another document. The project liquidated damages were as high as ten million yuan.

At that moment, I wanted to chop Ethan Green into pieces and feed him to the dogs.
