Chapter 6
As the Mid-Autumn Festival approached, Dylan Ye started coming to my house more and more frequently.
One day, he would bring an antique brooch that he thought would suit my mom; the next day, he would specially send over a bottle of fine wine from his family's winery collection for my dad.
He even didn't forget my older brother, who was abroad.
No matter what he brought, my mom would happily accept it all with a smile. This series of actions made me feel like I was a tree that was constantly dropping money.
Even though my family didn't lack any of these things.
I stood on the second floor, watching the large and small packages he brought to my door, and couldn't help but sigh: So courting me costs this much money!
He had already given gifts to my parents, so it was only natural that he would turn his attention to me next. It would be dishonest to say I wasn't looking forward to it a little.
Sure enough, he soon came knocking on my bedroom door, holding a wrapped gift box.
Since my parents had already been won over by him, I might as well accept it openly. But when I opened it, my eyes widened in surprise.
Inside was a champagne-colored evening gown—elegant and noble, with the skirt shimmering like a mermaid that had strayed into the human world.
Most women loved beautiful things, and I was no exception. I couldn't take my eyes off it after just one glance.
There was also a pair of delicate high-heeled shoes to match, and they were exactly my size.
This made me a little confused. I could understand him giving me clothes, but why an evening gown of all things? I was sure he didn't expect me to wear it casually.
As expected, the next second he revealed his true intention, "Ning Ning, after the Mid-Autumn Festival is my dad's birthday. Would you be willing to be my date at his birthday banquet?"
Although he phrased it as a question, his eyes left no room for refusal. I figured that even if I said no, my dad would find some way to trick me into going anyway. So I decided not to go through the trouble and agreed readily.
"Thank you for agreeing," Dylan Ye said. His words made me feel a little embarrassed. It was clearly such a small thing, yet it was as if agreeing to it was some great honor for him.
Before he left, he made me promise that I would definitely wear that dress to the birthday banquet.
