Chapter 4

Living Together Again with My Ex-Husband   â€ą   Chapter 6

Chapter 4

Sitting in the taxi, clutching the red banknotes in my hand, I felt an unusual sense of security.

Having money is truly great.

I must work hard to earn money—preferably enough to buy that villa.

If possible, I’d even buy Luke Brown and make him cook braised pork for me every day.

I licked my lips again, as if I could still smell the faint pine scent lingering on them.

But when I got out of the taxi and looked at the cafĂ© where I’d agreed to meet my best friend, I didn’t go in.

Are you kidding me? The taxi ride already cost forty-five yuan—did this woman want me to end up living on the street?

I called her triumphantly and told her to switch to a different meeting place. Then, wincing at the cost, I handed her a buy-one-get-one-free lemonade.

“Why drink coffee on such a hot day? This relieves summer heat. Come on, let’s talk on that bench.”

Sophia Miller stared at the lemonade in disbelief, then shot me a sharp glare. “Lucy White, have you gotten so poor that you can’t even afford a cup of coffee?”

I shrank back slightly. It was really rude to stab someone right where it hurt.

But Sophia Miller’s next words made me jump to my feet.

“You idiot—don’t tell me you even gave the company your grandfather left you to Ethan Green?”

What?!

I gave a whole company to some random guy?

In my fragmented memories, I did have a kind-hearted grandfather. But I didn’t remember him leaving me any company!

As for Ethan Green—he must be the man Luke Brown had mentioned, the one I’d cheated with.

“Do you have a photo of Ethan Green on your phone?”

I asked, my voice trembling.

I was dying to see what this man I’d been so blind for looked like—so blind that I’d even given away a company

If he was more handsome than Luke Brown
 No, that was impossible.

Sophia Miller slammed the half-drunk lemonade onto the ground, planted her hands on her hips, and glared at me furiously.

“Lucy White, this is the last time I warn you—I look down on Ethan Green, and I would never steal him from you! Stop accusing me of secretly keeping photos of him! If you suspect me one more time, we’re over!”

She could yell all she wanted, but why did she have to throw things away? That buy-one-get-one-free drink still cost three yuan.

I stared ćżƒç–Œ ly at the lemonade spilling all over the ground, realizing that this best friend of mine was actually reliable when it counted.

But I didn’t dare tell her I had amnesia—it sounded too absurd.

I had to meet Ethan Green and find out what was going on. But judging by my best friend’s reaction, if I dared say I wanted to go find Ethan Green, she’d definitely refuse to take me.

So I worked myself up into a mood, then pinched my thigh hard. With red eyes, I looked at her and said, “Sophia, I want revenge!”
