Chapter 16
Linda Brown had also seen the news, and everyone assumed sheâd been the one to leak the photos.
In the hospital room, the three members of the Wilson family stood at Linda Brownâs bedside.
She tried to explain to Ryan, âRyan Wilson, listen to meâI didnât send those photos! I swear!â
âStop lying! You hired someone to follow me and take those pictures!â Ryan shouted.
âI didnât!â she insisted.
âWhether you did it or not, youâre no longer welcome in the Wilson family. Nina developed a mental illness because you bullied her,â Mom said sharply, throwing the bullying file onto Lindaâs bed.
Linda Brown stared at the photosâat the thin, dark girl with thick glasses. Nina Miller... Nina Wilson.
âThe girl in those photos is Nina. You havenât forgotten, have you?â Mom asked, her voice trembling with anger.
âAuntie, please listen to meâI didnât mean to! I was just a kid back then, I didnât know what I was doing!â Linda begged.
âDidnât know what you were doing? Do you think a single âI was young and stupidâ can fix this? This has haunted Nina for her whole life!â Mom snapped.
âNina was too kind to tell us about thisâshe didnât want to make things hard for us. And how have you repaid her? Youâve been pretending to be nice to her these past few months, but you never changed your true colors,â Mom added.
She clutched her chest, and Ryan hurried to support her.
âLinda Brown, youâve been hiding this well, havenât you?â Ryan said coldly. âYou even had an abortion in high school?â He threw the second file in front of her.
âYouâre not exactly a saint eitherâwho do you think you are to judge me?â Linda snapped, giving up on defending herself.
âLetâs get a divorce. Iâve already drawn up the papers. The baby stays with me, and you get nothing,â Ryan said.
âWhat? Ryan Wilson, you monster!â she screamed.
David Wilson spoke up, his voice cold. âIf you hand over custody of the baby peacefully, we wonât make things harder for you because of what you did to Nina. From now on, weâll have nothing to do with each other.â
âIf our child is around someone like you, sheâll grow up twisted,â he added.
