Chapter 10

Living Together Again with My Ex-Husband   â€˘   Chapter 12

Chapter 10

When I signed the papers, I felt even more frustrated than when I’d seen that “divorced but still living together” cohabitation agreement.

I stormed out, declaring that I would never go back and that I would never pay him back the hundred yuan.

As expected, Luke Brown had a way. In less than three days, all the loyal employees I’d foolishly fired before had come back. Even though the way they looked at me wasn’t very friendly, when I saw the project transfer agreements they brought with them, I almost burst into tears of relief.

The company’s sinking ship had finally been saved. I fired more than half of the remaining staff and started recruiting new people, keeping myself so busy that I lost track of day and night.

When I finally got a chance to catch my breath, I had nowhere to go, so I had to beg my best friend to let me stay with her.

I banged on Sophia Miller’s door, interrupting her beauty sleep. She was furious. She grabbed me by the neck, dragged me into her car, and drove all the way back to Luke Brown’s villa area.

“Why are you handing me over to Luke Brown? Are you in cahoots with him?!”

I was furious, feeling a deep sense of betrayal.

Sophia Miller almost smacked her size-eight shoe over my head. I stared in shock as she pulled me over to a villa right next to Luke Brown’s, typed in the password, and pushed me inside.

My house was right next to Luke Brown’s?

I couldn’t process this news. I was even more confused about why Luke Brown had insisted on keeping me in his villa.

I stared at my reflection in the mirror, racking my brain, but the only reason I could come up with was that he was after my body.

After all, when I’d woken up, he’d been lying on top of me—obviously an attempted assault.

Besides, he’d stuck his tongue in when he kissed me.

I realized I was in danger. Because according to Sophia Miller, she didn’t know Luke Brown very well.

How could someone my best friend didn’t know very well be my ex-husband? There was definitely something wrong here.

I couldn’t even focus on reading the project proposal. I was on edge the whole time. Then, suddenly, my phone rang in the dark. The name “Ethan Green” on the screen made my nerves throb with pain.
